Dr. Heinbuch graduated from the University of Illinois College of Veterinary Medicine in 1977. Two years later she moved to Chicago and began practicing at North Center Animal Hospital. She became a co-owner of North Center in 1985 and continues in that capacity today. Throughout her career Dr. Heinbuch has shifted her emphasis through different areas of practice, including an initial focus on surgery that has changed to an emphasis on internal medicine.
Dr. Heinbuch enjoys the challenge of working with complex internal medicine cases, often researching unusual problems and referencing literature to obtain the latest theories on the newest diagnostic and treatment modalities available. She regularly consults with the our other staff veterinarians on difficult cases and contributes her great expertise in this area.
Dr. Heinbuch grew up raising and showing Collies and later switched to working with Dobermans, an activity she continues today. Dr. Heinbuch lives in suburban Chicagoland with her husband and the rest of her "family" which includes her Doberman, Tayla, as well as two cats, Shiner and Smudge. In her spare time, Dr. Heinbuch is an avid gardener and has been a regular yoga participant for many years.
In the past several years as North Center has grown, Dr. Heinbuch has assumed a greater management role in the hospital, spending much time behind the scenes. Despite this necessity, she still primarily enjoys seeing patients and practicing hands-on medicine.
