Cardiology Services at North Center Animal Hospital

We are here to help you keep your pet’s heart healthy!

We offer electrocardiography services at North Center Animal Hospital. Electrocardiography is the process used to perform an EKG or electrocardiogram test on a dog or cat’s heart. An electrocardiogram (EKG) measures the rate and regularity of heartbeats as well as measures and provides information about the size and position of the animal’s heart chambers.

An electrocardiography procedure is non-invasive and painless. It involves attaching electrodes to your pet’s legs and sometimes chest, these electrodes are then connected by wires to the EKG machine. While the procedure is being performed your pet can either stand or lay on its side, whichever makes them feel the calmest.

The procedure typically takes only a few minutes and our veterinarian can then interpret the results right away and discuss their findings with you. We also provide consultations and echocardiograms with a cardiology specialist.
